Safeway Savings

I don't normally go to Safeway. I think it's outrageously overpriced. But I have been watching the sales flyers lately and have gotten some good deals. One being if you spend $25 on frozen foods, you'll get a coupon for $10 off your next trip for more frozen foods (think pizza, veggies, lean cuisine). So I bought everything on sale AND got $10 back. Then deal number 2 was buy 10 products from a list at various prices ranging from 75 cents to $2.50 on things like bagged salad (1.25), my daughter's fav. Fiber One bars ($2.50), to 32 oz gatorage (.75). You get the picture. Anyway, I spent a total of out-of-pocket $64.31 with savings of $39.19, plus my $10 for next time. I should have been better about gathering up more coupons, but I'm not very good at that. Maybe next week. Anyway, the frozen food deal is good through 3/31.

Baby Shower!

Went to my niece's baby shower yesterday. It was fun. So much food!!!!!!!!!! She got lots of nice things. She's having a girl, so everything was pink. My sister-in-law is such a fabulous cook, everything was so good. I made her a diaper cake (see photo), and some of Bakerella's cake pops. I'm not happy with how they turned out, though. They kept falling off the sticks. I'll have to make some more to perfect it. They sure were a hit, and quite yummy, if I do say so myself.

Surprise!

My daughter was awarded the Jaguar Award from her coach last week! This was so wonderful. The Jag Award goes to the team member who best represents their program on and off the field, voted by their peers. My daughter has been a varsity cheerleader her entire four years and has been co-captain the last two. This was a great honor for her and moved me to tears! Now if I could only get a picture of her WITH her plaque!

Monday Update

Whew!!! What a weekend. We had a basketball game, a basketball pizza party, a 2-day cheerleading competition, and we had THE SCHOOL TALK with our son. My husband reaaaaalllly wants him to go to the Catholic high school 30 minutes away, but he wants to go to the neighborhood public high school (walking distance). Lots of discussing back and forth, son is adament that he not be forced to go. I don't want to force him to go, but it's such a great school academically and he knows kids there already, but alas, not to be.

So the cheer competition was at George Mason University and daughter's squad (Dream Eternity Senior Level 4) came in first!!! They all got the cutest jackets!!! I'll try and sneak a picture of hers when she gets home.

Anyway, he's a shot from Saturday's competition (see above photo).

Working on a New Blog Post

I'm swamped today, sorry. I'll post something later today hopefully, with pictures. I've got shopping savings to brag about and maybe even a recipe to share. Still waiting on my iTouch prize, too.

Cookies and Driving

I made cookies last night. The kids were asking for them. I used to always make cookies from scratch, still do sometimes. But more often, I'll use those cute little Betty Croker mixes. I usually get them pretty cheap (on sale, coupons) and they make just enough. The ones we like the best are the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. They just smell so good!!!

And the biggest news of all is that my sweet little DD got her license yesterday! Yes, watch out greater Montgomery County, she's on the road!!!! She was incredibly nervous, but I kept telling her that she would be fine, that she would make it and . . . she did! She immediately went to the grocery for me, went to the bank, went back to school, went to her friend's, drove to the basketball game last night. But when it came time to drive over to Red Robin after the game for dinner, she didn't want to drive at night. Smart girl after all!! So proud!

Today is basketball, baseball clinic at St. John's, DD has to work at 4, and I've got a ton of working to do myself, plus still have all the bedding to wash. UGH! And to top it off, my back is killing me. I don't know what I did, but it really hurts.

Oh, and a gratuitous kitty picture, too. She's still in the doghouse after her antics of this week. She chewed through some more electrical cords. Banishment to the basement when no one's around for her. Hard to believe that she's so cute and sweet and playful that there's a hidden devil inside!

Great deal at Target

If anyone's interested (if anyone's reading this!!!), Target has milk on sale this week. I know here in the DC area, milk is really pricey, usually $3.59 at my local Giant. But Target has milk for $2.99 for 1%. Other milks are on sale, too. Great Deal. I bought two! I also printed out some coupons to use for Tropicana OJ and Pepperidge Farm goldfish, $1 each. So that brought the cost of the OJ down to $2.19 ($2.50 or more at Giant), again I had two coupons. Great savings.
